Haley Joel Osment arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, cocaine possession at ski resort

Actor Haley Joel Osment’s recent trip to a California ski resort included more than just snowy slopes: A run-in with law enforcement officials and his arrest were also in store.
The former child star, the brother of “Young Sheldon” actor Emily Osment, was arrested April 8 on suspicion of public intoxication and possession of an unidentified controlled substance at the popular Mammoth Mountain ski resort. The Mono County district attorney’s office on Thursday confirmed to The Times it had charged the 37-year-old “Blink Twice” and “The Sixth Sense” actor with two misdemeanors: one for disorderly conduct involving alcohol and the second for possession of cocaine stemming from his arrest.
The district attorney’s office said Osment would be arraigned in July at the Mammoth Lakes branch of the Mono County Superior Court. A representative for the actor did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment.
On April 8, law enforcement received a call about an allegedly intoxicated individual at the ski resort, according to TMZ, which first reported the arrest on Wednesday. Ski patrollers were with Osment when police arrived at the resort, the website said.
Actor Eric Mabius, best known for TV series ‘Ugly Betty,’ was booked early Thursday on two misdemeanor charges: battery and resisting law enforcement without violence.
Video published by TMZ on Thursday showed Osment, wearing his ski helmet backward, allegedly holding up the line for a ski lift. Frustrated resort guests demanded Osment “get out of the line,” but he shrugged off the request and refused to follow with a crew member who tried to escort him to the side, according to the video. The clip ends with Osment walking through the snow next to the line and then off-camera. The outlet also reported that Osment allegedly called the arresting officer both a “Nazi” and a slur for Jewish people.
Sgt. Jason Heilman of the Mammoth Lakes Police Department confirmed to People on Wednesday that the Los Angeles native was booked and “is no longer in custody.”
Osment, best known for his haunting performance in M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Sixth Sense,” first faced legal troubles in 2006 when he was charged with misdemeanor drunk driving after crashing his car in La Ca?ada Flintridge. More than a decade later, Osment sparked a police response in 2018 for allegedly making verbal threats to American Airlines staff in the Las Vegas airport after missing his flight. Police received a call about an “unruly passenger” but did not make contact with the “Poker Face” actor.
Earlier this year, Osment was among the thousands of Angelenos who lost their homes in the devastating wildfires that ravaged parts of Southern California in January. Emily Osment said in a January Instagram post that their parents also lost their home in the Eaton fire.
Amid the January blazes, Haley Joel Osment wrote in a since-expired Instagram story: “My heart would be so full every time I drove home — it was such a special place — I loved living there — our forest and our mountains and our homes — all gone.”
